Stone Carving Workshop: An Introduction to Relief Sculpture with James Horan

Working with slate, participants will learn how to carve simple forms in low relief. I'll demonstrate how these basic techniques can be used to create 3D forms and even letter carving. Throughout the weekend, we'll also dive into the world of stone sculpture—discussing the types of stone we use, their properties, and offering a brief overview of its rich history. I will also discuss some stone sculptors currently working in Ireland for added inspiration.
