In the first couple of days participants will be guided through the making of a furnace and will smelt blooms of iron using native Irish iron ores. They will then be shown how to refine the smelted blooms into workable iron. On the final day participants will be offered a basic blacksmithing course to forge their own smelted iron into a piece of jewellery or other small memento. (InHand weekend ticket participants may join this course for 1, 2 or all 3 days)
